I say "transformational coaching" because it's a term at least some people have heard and because it better captures my purpose as a coach than the term "life coaching."

But "transform" doesn't completely cover it. Coaching helps you discover and be who you really are. The real you doesn't transform. What changes is that you start being that person: taking the actions and reaching the goals that are in your heart.

Let's say this. A caterpillar was always a butterfly. It just needed to emerge from its cocoon.

True, but who can most benefit from coaching?

Here is a quiz.

If any of the statements apply to you, you might get a lot out of coaching.

You are passionate about achieving something but don't know where to start.

You have a big project starting or underway and want someone to help you be clear and accountable as you move forward.

You don't know what you want out of life and/or you don't like how your life is going now.

There's a hero inside you fighting to get out but you don't know how to release them.

At the start of the coaching relationship you map out what you would like to get out of the experience. What is your overall goal? For example, "I want to become a full-time musician" or "I want to start my own business" or "I want to find more balance between my work and family life." It could be anything.

Then you come to each coaching session with something smaller and more specific to work on. For example, "I want to finish writing a song but I can't seem to find the time" or "I want to send an email announcing my business, but I can't get started" or "I want to take a vacation but I keep putting it off." Again, it could be anything.

Then you tell me about what's going on, and I listen, ask questions, and tell you what I hear.

I'm a

I am trained to make the observations and ask the questions that will support you in seeing who you are, what is important to you, and the answers to your questions so that you can reach your goals. I also provide concrete tools that can help re-orient you to your purpose and values when you face worry and doubt.

I cannot emphasize enough that you have the answers to your questions, whether you realize it or not. My role is to help you to see what you already know.

Once you see, you may find that you're afraid to move forward. My other role is to empower you to take action even though you're afraid.

All of this happens in a confidential, nonjudgmental space where unleashing the hero in your heart and empowering you on your hero's journey are the only concerns.

I am a mixed-race woman and identify as Black. I know it isn't easy to be a Black woman, or any non-white woman. My target clients are women of color because I believe that, working in solidarity, we can achieve liberation for ourselves and help to achieve it for our communities. As Maya Angelou said: Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women.

I also recognize that everyone must pull together if any of us is to be free. With that in mind, I welcome all people of color as well as white folx who are committed to freeing our world from oppression.
